About the Position:

Provide supervision on the hall as part of management team to ensure and maintain therapeutic milieu and trauma-informed approach, record-keeping and compliance with established policies. Develop, implement, and evaluate the residential activities program.

A Typical Day as an Assistant Unit and Activities Manager:

  • Assist in the supervision and development of the Residential Counselors. Role model the implementation of daily living routines and recreation/leisure time routines within the residential program philosophy. This includes being present on the unit during planned shift work and during times where increased staffing is necessary.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu within the residential environment consistent with the total program philosophy, including Medicaid documentation.
  • Model and ensure safe, appropriate, trauma-informed interactions and behavioral management techniques with youth.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic activities for GAH youth with assistance from residential counselors.
  • Encourage and reinforce the implementation of the daily structured record-keeping system of the residential treatment program, SER's, and other required documentation.
  • Assist in the review of all special incident reports submitted by staff and forward to Program Administrator.
  • Interact with all multidisciplinary team members of the residential facility and assist in outlining, reviewing, and clarifying youth and family participation in the residential aspects of the program, and assist therapists in developing individual treatment programs.
  • Interact/direct youth to help them learn to manage their emotions and social interactions. Identify and implement daily living groups that will help build and grow our youth's skill sets.
  • Share on-call rotation duties.
  • Provide back-up support in emergency situations, help coordinate crisis intervention and function as a member of the GAH leadership team.
  • Implement and model all the training learned in TCI.

Does the Following Apply to You?

  • Bachelor of Social Work ; or Bachelor's degree in a human service field plus four years of approved work experience (two of which must be in a residential setting); or two plus years of college with a commitment to complete degree in designated time frame and four years of approved work experience (two of which must be in a residential setting
  • Residential Experience (Preferred)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Completion of DCFS criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Obtain an insured vehicle
  • At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
