Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Bridge & Structures Business Class Area Leader, we'll count on you to:Provide Area leadership and take responsibility for area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers, all within direction and goals of business class plans for the Southern California Bridge and Structures Business Class Participate in delivery of project services to meet client expectationsCollaborate on business class efforts with area operations, marketing and project managementParticipate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviewsParticipate in business class strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementationPrioritize BSBC activities across Southern California to best implement Market Sector and Business Group objectives and promote technical services in the AreaManage project staffing/resourcing, workload and resource balancing and BC utilization in coordination with Project Managers (PMs), Area BSBC Section Managers, and the Area Transportation ManagerLead the forecasting of project workload, workshare, committing resources, and technical needs Be responsible for preparing/reviewing the project budgets for the business class and tracking budget statusManage staff workloads and make recommendations for adjustments and recruiting as needed Manage training and licensing requirements and identify opportunities for continuing educationMonitor area performance within the business class to achieve defined goals and support operational managers in monitoring project performance and implementation of corrective actions. Verify and update the following Area Bridge Program information:Quarterly Resource Chart UpdatesQuarterly Rolling 12 Staffing Projections: booked, selected not booked, prospective (Key Pursuits List) and work-sharing, andOnce a year, verify the Rolling 5 Staffing Projections and long-range opportunitiesProvide updates for and participate in monthly BSBC West Region coordination call Identify key talent acquisitions and strategize approach to recruitmentPerform other duties as needed#LI-JF1Keywords: Bridge & Structures Business Class Area LeaderQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline is required Minimum 10 years of experienceCalifornia P.E. is requiredDemonstrated effective leadership, communication, and project management skills and proven ability to work with various individual personalities and teams Effective and tactful communication with internal design disciplines, client, contractors, third parties; able to articulate concerns and clearly explain issues to project team and others with different levels of technical knowledgeExperience in project management and leading bridge design teams on large, complex bridge projects including managing budgets, preparing scopes and developing cost/fee estimatesExperience working on multi-disciplinary design teamsProactive communication and problem solving skillsGood organizational skills Committed to quality, improvement and HDR valuesMaintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience experienced in development and management of diverse teamsWorks cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class effortsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustPreferred QualificationsActively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brandMasters degree in structural engineering is preferred California S.E. is a plusMinimum of 15 years of experience is preferred Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brandWhy HDRAt HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
