The Blake School is Hiring an Assistant Campus Lead Near Hopkins, MN

Job Description
Under minimal supervision, the assistant campus lead works directly with staff, faculty and outside contractors and vendors to assist in the overall responsibility of physical operations, maintenance and cleaning of campus buildings.
Experience and Skills
Responsibilities:
  • Under direction, assist with the inspecting, planning and implementing of a campus building maintenance program.
  • Perform equipment and building maintenance on a daily basis in accordance with submitted and/or assigned service requests. Follow appropriate safety procedures when completing work assignments in accordance with OSHA and other relevant safety guidelines. Inform supervisor and update electronic request forms as completed or as deemed appropriate.
  • As directed, perform building and periodic property inspections. Maintain a safe and secure setting for students, staff and guests. Report any concerns or violations to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in the recordkeeping for purchasing, inventory, labor and materials for work performed.
  • Provide back-up support for campus lead and custodian/maintenance positions during planned or unexpected absences.
  • Determine materials and methods for assigned jobs; inspect for quality and progress to ensure work is being performed with an emphasis on safety; Communicate with the supervisor all labor and materials utilized on a daily basis.
  • Submit purchase requisitions for supplies and materials; coordinate and maintain adequate inventory of tools, equipment, hardware and materials. Assist Campus Lead with building inspections and maintenance operations reviews; notify supervisor of concerns regarding safety and building integrity.
  • Coordinate access to spaces to minimize disruption to operations. Receive and deliver equipment and supplies as required. May be called upon to discuss and participate in installations, repairs, new construction and other routine and event-related projects.
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry including but not limited to demolition and rough construction; roof repairs, drywall and plaster; metal work; masonry, concrete, block and brick work; resilient and hard surface flooring; repair/replace doors and windows; cabinet, lock and hardware repair; plastic laminate work; suspended ceilings and insulation, painting and other surface treatments. Maintain basic knowledge of plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems as it relates to general maintenance and upkeep of the buildings.
  • Assist with traffic control at the beginning and end of school day.

Minimum Qualifications:
Working Conditions:
  • May be subject to being on-call
  • Carry a cell phone or two-way device
  • Work with hazardous materials
  • Schedule changes based on the needs of the school
  • Work long hours to complete/perform scheduled or emergency functions and events
  • Required to work under adverse weather conditions and varying temperatures (indoor/outdoor)
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work safely from ladders, scaffolds and roofs
  • Required to work in confined spaces which may include extended periods of stooping, bending, kneeling or standing.
  • Involves a great deal of walking
  • Must possess normal vision, hearing and physical dexterity
  • Will be required to do own laboring, lift up to 50 pounds safely and be able to transport equipment (push and pull), including carts which may carry 400 pounds
Required:
  • 3 years experience performing general maintenance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven project management skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Word/Excel, work order tracking and payroll systems)
  • Availability for scheduled and on-call work evenings and weekends
  • High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred:
  • Boiler Operating License (Class C or higher)
  • Experience in supervision/proven skills
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license/must pass DMV background check
  • Working knowledge of construction materials and methods
Team Participation:
  • Participate as a contributing member of the campus team
  • As appropriate, give input for ways to improve procedures and policies currently in use to ensure business is conducted in a safe, responsible manner
  • Willing to assist in other areas and with other tasks not defined in position description
