A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

In this role, you will support individuals with daily living skills including housekeeping, cooking, hygiene, and self-administration of medications. While supporting people with disabilities, you learn their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, and likes and dislikes. After learning each Individual's Life Plan, you follow it closely to ensure health and safety and achieve goals. You assess their needs, positively influence behavior, and provide skills that will all assist them in integrating into their community in the least restrictive environment. It is rewarding to see your work as a DSP pay off when the people you support achieve their goals.

All COVID-19 safety requirements are strictly adhered to at The Arc Wayne and all PPE are provided for all employees. The safety of the individuals we support and the safety of our employees are both very important to The Arc Wayne. Training on all safety requirements will be provided during the onboarding process.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current, valid NYS driver's license for at least 2 years and a safe driving record
• Ability to pass a background and reference check
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to physically assist individuals who use wheelchairs and/or walkers

Previous experience in the Human Services Field, as a Home Health Aide or a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a plus! Are you dependable? Full Time (40 hours/week), Tuesday-Saturday (2pm - 10pm)
