About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs is a Commonwealth of Virginia state agency that provides professional and responsive support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
At the Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy, our purpose is to positively intervene in the lives of 16-18-year-old teenagers by providing the values, skills, education, and self-discipline needed to produce responsible, productive citizens, and to do so in a highly structured learning environment.
Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for providing maintenance support and technical assistance to ensure the proper functioning of equipment, and to ensure proper maintenance of physical facilities to ensure cadets and staff have a safe working and living environment.
Minimum Qualifications
•Knowledge in diagnosing and repairing equipment;
•Knowledge of building repair techniques, which include: Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC);
•Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, to read gauges, to interpret testing devices; to perform repairs, operate equipment and to provide technical advice and assistance;
•Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions;
•Ability to establish, maintain and have adequate inventories of maintenance supplies;
•A valid Driver's License is a requirement;
•Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement within 12 months of hire;
