Tesla's Power Electronics group is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to assist in designing and lead the validation of power converters for Tesla's Dojo training computer and Tesla Energy products. This role is ideal for less experienced engineers with passion for bringing cutting edge power converters to life and have an interest in growing design skills.

* Design, build and industrialize power converter hardware for use in automotive and energy products applications

* Start to finish ownership of hardware - from specification to design, prototype, reliability validation and high-volume production

* Capture hardware requirements, build detailed circuit and switching models of power converters, select components, design schematics, PCB layout, build prototypes and validate hardware

* Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout and firmware engineering teams to successfully design, test and validate power converter hardware

* B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience

* Strong theoretical understanding of basic power converter topologies (buck/boost/buck-boost)

* Solid understanding of the theory and application of power semi-conductors, magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors (film, ceramic and electrolytic) used in high voltage and high frequency power converters

* Good experience with design of analog/digital circuits and micro-processors

* Familiar with schematic capture and PCB layout tools

* Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.) and test automation programming

* Experience with high voltage power converter design (Semi-conductor selection, gate driver design, and analog/digital circuit design)

* Good understanding of switching waveforms, semi-conductor loss mechanisms and experience with loss modeling

* Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial & Residential applications

* Knowledge of basic control theory and experience with embedded programming
