Tactical Engineering Analysis is Hiring a Software Engineer Near Fredericksburg, VA

Overview

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer candidate with experience in computer program requirements definition, design, programming, and debugging to include computer-based training applications.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Creates software programs, e.g., games, computer-based education, military interactive courseware, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, client/server applications, multimedia, interactive multimedia instruction, Internet technology, distance learning, simulations and virtual reality
  • Provides code update, repair, and modification for existing software programs
  • Uses Learning Management Systems (LMS), SCORM, and Web multimedia development tools such as HTML 5
  • Participates in technical peer reviews and design reviews for software changes to code base
  • Provides engineering expertise to support designing and presenting of software changes to correct defects
  • Supports development of test cases, maintaining source code for test tools, executing test cases, and reviewing test results
  • Conducts research and investigates Problem Reports (PRs)

  • Laptop Computer and peripheral equipment

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; Combat Systems (CS) laboratory

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis

Written and Verbal Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.
  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Requires One (1) to (3 years experience in computer program requirements definition, design, programming, and debugging.

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involving stakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations.

Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks:

  • Able to efficiently adapt to new priorities.
    • This includes effectively multitasking project responsibilities with an awareness to support changes as needed.

Work Schedule: 

  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Travel:

  • Possibility of domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • BS (Computer Science, EE, ME, IE, Physics) or related experience 

Required Certifications:

  • Technical certs a plus

U.S. Citizenship is required

Security Clearance:

Secret Required

TS/SCI Desired

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
