Description of Work Unit

The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Summary

This position is a part-time, Admin Pro position. The Preclinical Surgical Research Laboratory ( PSRL ) and Orthopedic Bioengineering Research Laboratory ( OBRL ) seeks an administrative assistant to support the lab directors with daily tasks like email review, scheduling, and general staff needs.

This position is integral to the success of PSRL and OBRL research studies.

This position offers the potential for a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-person and remote work, based on training requirements

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; The department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Job Qualifications

B.A./B.S. in a related field or an associate degree in a related discipline plus 2 years of relevant, specialized training/experience in business administration, office management etc. may substitute for the bachelors degree.

Minimum of 1 year experience within a complex research enterprise or department with a nuanced understanding of the academic research environment.

Demonstrated experience working in a support role

Effectively communicates with team members and researchers to gather and disseminate information, facilitating smooth workflow and project coordination.

Prioritizes tasks based on deadlines and importance, ensuring that all projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing research administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.

Competence in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Kuali

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; The department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Previous experience working with industry representatives including facilitating communication between researchers and industry partners, administrative duties regarding agreements and contracts, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and work independently.

Must be a self-starter and work with minimal oversite.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
