**About Solugen:**

Solugen, Inc. is a revolutionary product and technology company seeking to use biology to transform the chemicals industry. Solugen was founded in 2016 and is a post-Series C venture-backed biotechnology company supported by renowned venture capital firms including Founders Fund, FiftyYears, Refactor, Y Combinator, Temasek, GIC, and Baillie-Gifford. Located in Houston, Texas, Solugen is currently scaling up its manufacturing facility to use its chemienzymatic process to manufacture bio-based chemistries for water treatment, agriculture, personal care, and other applications. Solugen currently has 100 full time employees.

**Mission**

Solugens mission is to decarbonize chemicals manufacturing. As a first step, Solugen has built a first-of-its-kind 10,000 tpy commercial plant which can offset up to 37,000 tpy of carbon dioxide equivalents.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager this individual will be responsible for direct support of Solugen R&D operations. The position will develop and manage systems and processes that are critical to the success of R&D operations as well as provide routine and non-routine support to R&D staff, as necessary.

This position will be in Houston, Texas.

**Key Outcomes**

- Develop and maintain an equipment management system for tracking statuses, PMs, downtime, and installation of equipment throughout all labs within first 6 months of hire.

- Manage service contracts and coordinate onsite vendors, visitors, and contractors to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and/or calibration to prevent unplanned down times.

- Assume the creation of purchase orders, tracking items, receiving packages, updating inventory, and document all paperwork of laboratory supplies and equipment within first 3 months of hire.

- Build up an inventory controlling process for lab consumables through managing the storeroom and eProcurment platform within first 6 months of hire.

- Enhance our chemical inventory management through audits, inspections, and tracking of over one thousand different chemicals. Apply advanced knowledge to ensure regulatory compliance with reporting and management of our chemical inventory.

- Assist in pushing our safety culture beyond safety compliance by implementing various safety initiatives with the help of the safety committee.

- Ensure continued compliance of hazardous waste management with federal, state, and local regulations.

- Provide backup support to the Lab Manager as needed.

* Knowledge of installation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

* Act independently to identify and resolve safety issues.

* Identifies, plans, and executes process improvement initiatives for the lab.

* Exhibits the ability to work well with others and maintain organization between cross-related departments.

* Familiar with data entry platforms and can effectively learn and manage online systems.

**Qualification**

* A bachelor's degree in a science discipline is required.

* Three years of experience operating and maintaining science equipment and materials in a laboratory or similar setting is required.

* Experience working with an ERP software and eProcurment platform is desired.

* Experience with generating purchase orders desired.

* A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

* Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation)

* Strong project management skills and the ability to set objectives and deliver results

* Strong problem-solving skills
