Quality Manager

The Quality Manager is responsible to provide day to day leadership, direction, and planning for all Quality Control and Quality Assurance areas within the Company. This will include direct responsibility for quality reporting, analysis, certifications, and compliance as it relates to product and process quality.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Communicates Company’s vision, mission and strategic direction at a level that allows every employee to understand they are a part of something bigger than themselves and that their role is strategically important to the organization.
  • Leads, guides, directs, and evaluates work of direct reports, including meeting budget goals and accountability measures that are aligned with the mission statement.
  • Sets the vision and strategy for the quality group.
  • Partners with WEM’s management and executive teams; ensures all Products and processes adhere to multiple certification aspects noted by Electric Machinery (EM), including ISO, Nuclear, and other independent agencies or customers.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable company policies, procedures, and processes regarding production methods, quality and safety.
  • Defines and implements solutions to continuously improve business process, eliminating safety risks, cutting production costs and continuously defining and improving quality of products and processes.
  • Responsible for accomplishment of short- and long-term goals and objectives, for Quality departments, including test, as established jointly with business leaders and executive team.
  • Manages efforts and results of Quality and Test area supervisors, Quality technicians / inspectors, testers and directly assigned support personnel.
  • Interacts with all levels and functions within the organization to promote a total quality environment.
  • Maintains communication with customers and suppliers to ensure EM’s quality and customer service priorities are being maintained.
  • Provides coaching, development, and day to day support for production, production support, and next tier leadership personnel.
  • Prepares operating budgets and ensures responsible functions are conducted according to budget guidelines.
  • Works closely and harmoniously with Operations and Engineering support departments, as well as, other functional and support groups inside and outside of WEM.
  • Understands and works within the guidelines of current labor agreement.
  • Other duties may be assigned by President to meet business needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to routinely move throughout the office and manufacturing facility to perform work.
  • Requires the ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs daily to reach all areas in the manufacturing facility.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • BS degree required, preferably an engineering, or technical related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes, and quality assurance techniques.
  • Experience with Quality procedures and documentation with emphasis on the development and improvement of Quality processes.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong critical thinking, negotiation, and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities to meet business, and business segment goals.
  • Ability to advise and contribute on activities to maximize profit, protect and grow the Company.
  • Ability to work well within a team, as well as independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to teach and work with all levels of production and support personnel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using SAP strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with process improvements and lean manufacturing implementation in a factory setting.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization required.
  • Proven customer interaction and management skills are essential.
  • Proven self-starting, results-oriented, flexible, team-player skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to travel worldwide on short notice.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
