JOB TITLE : CARE ASSOCIATE – Social Enterprise

FLSA : Non-Exempt

FT/PT : Part-Time

SUMMARY

As frontline team members, Care Associates in the Social Enterprise department provide excellent customer service in Pasadena Humane’s retail store assist clients with spay/neuter and vaccine services, donations, and pet licensing.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Provide enthusiastic and stellar customer service and sales to guests, staff, volunteers, and other departments.
  • Handle cash, credit card, check transactions, enter discounts, process online orders, process refunds, balance cash drawer and reconcile daily deposits.
  • Monitor retail product inventory, including items needed, expiring products, special orders, and inventory counts.
  • Process weekly shipments and enter them into our POS system. Identify shipment errors, damaged items, and items for return.
  • Contribute to onboarding new employees by allowing new staff to shadow and understand Shelter Shop, spay/neuter and vaccine clinic processes.
  • Process pet licensing for clients.
  • Provide in-kind donation forms and handle donation distribution to the organization.
  • Maintain a clean and inviting environment, creatively display merchandise to appeal to customers and increase sales.
  • Check-in and check-out clients for spay, neuter, and high-volume vaccine clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to communicate any client inquiries or issues.
  • Must be highly proficient with computers, use multiple software programs, email and POS systems.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and actively participate in Pasadena Humane safety programs.
  • Uphold Pasadena Humane Society’s mission and contribute to building a culture of philanthropy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year retail, veterinary office or customer service experience required.
  • Retail experience and/or veterinary office experience is a plus!
  • Knowledge of low stress handling and restraint techniques for domestic animals preferred.
  • Very proficient in computer applications, Microsoft suite email, POS and multiple software and scheduling systems.
  • Knowledge of normal cat and dog behavior strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be able to work hours according to the needs of the department schedule, including weekends and holidays. Work hours can vary from 7am-6pm.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fast-paced environment. Employees are exposed to numerous animals (living and deceased), including those with uncertain dispositions. They are required to act in a safe and responsible manner.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
