Job Responsibilities

Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe, student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. Manage classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special education actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of a student's educational team.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligible for South Carolina certification through the State Department of Education's approved alternative certification routes. Valid South Carolina certification (or is eligible to obtain a South Carolina certificate) in the subject area(s) employed to teach. Ability to implement appropriate communication modality and/or to acquire requisite skills. Knowledge of and/or ability to acquire knowledge of the current best practices, research, and pedagogy required to meet the individual needs of students with sensory differences. Thorough understanding of grade level curriculum and the South Carolina State Standards. Ability to implement appropriate communication modality and/or to acquire requisite skills.
