Job Responsibilities

Under limited supervision of the Associate Vice President of Business Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Philanthropy, this position will serve as the Chief Accounting and Finance Officer for the Midlands Technical College Foundation. This position will be responsible for the accounting and internal controls of a multi-million dollar endowment and budget. Will assist in the planning, development, and implantation of comprehensive financial long-term strategies.

Oversees cash management functions to include, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll and 1099s, and bank reconciliation. Oversees and conducts financial reporting including, but not limited to, financial statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets, budgets to actuals, and financial projections on a timely basis. Develops budget forms and prepares budget reports and adjustments, prepares summary reports of program activities. Ensures that all accounting allocations are made and documented. Works with the Office of Philanthropy to ensure accurate information between Raisers Edge and Financial Edge.
Works with the Associate Vice President for the Office of Philanthropy, the college, and the Associate Vice President for Business Affairs (AVPBA) on the planning, development, and implementation of fiscal policy, process, and long-range strategic planning. Creates and maintains all related policies and procedures. Provides skilled opinions and financial perspective as required in order to assist in creating an in-depth financial analysis. Serves as liaison between the Associate Vice President for the Office of
Philanthropy, outsourced investment manager, Information Resource Management, auditors and the college's finance department. Reviews all vendor agreements to include, but not limited to, Financial Edge, auditors, banks and outsourced chief investment officer. Provides oversight to endowment/outsourced Chief Investment Officer for the endowment and investment portfolio. Acts upon decisions made by the Foundation Finance and Administration Committee and Board of Trustees as communicated by the AVPBA or the Associate Vice President for the Office of Philanthropy.

Oversees the MTC Foundation annual audit, and serves as point of contact with external auditor. Facilitates internal controls including review and approval of invoices and with the audit team (both external and internal) with regard to the foundation finances. Works with Finance Office to ensure a successful audit according to the Audit schedule. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledgeable and skilled with working with non-profit accounting preferably in higher education. Full understanding of GAAP. Knowledge of endowment management and practices. Experience in higher education philanthropy is a plus. Knowledge of Financial Edge and Raisers Edge.
