This part-time County Caseworker position works in our Crisis Intervention Program to provide on-call emergency services to adults or children and their families. Crisis Workers provide rapid responses by phone or in person to resolve precipitating stress. Provide intervention, assessment, counseling, screening, and disposition.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Services are provided to adults or children and their families who exhibit an acute problem of disturbed thoughts, behavior, mood or social relationships. Provide rapid responses, by phone or face to face contacts, to crisis situations that threaten the well-being of the individual or others, to include but not limited to: intervention, assessment, counseling, screening, and disposition. Collaborate with other DBHS departments, attend and report at staff meetings within the DBHS Agency or any external community-based agencies and organizations. Develops working relationships with community psychiatric units by implementation of 201 and 302 procedures. Responsible for completion of timesheets, expense reports, and documentation. Participates in completion of notes and other necessary service documentation for each consumer served. Assure records are maintained. Attend staffings, meetings, and trainings as needed. At times, may provide coverage in Bedford County. Perform other related duties as required. On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Part-time employment.
  • Work hours could include weekdays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 4:00 PM - 8:00 AM, and/or weekend coverage 8:00 AM - 8:00 AM.
  • Work is on a part-time/on-call basis, 0-24 hours a week.
  • A different on-call availability/wait hourly rate applies when no active response is occurring during a shift.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
