State of Missouri is Hiring an Assistant/Associate Engineer - 4FAC015 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $2,200 - $2,468 semi-monthly

  • Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Financial Assistance Center and will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

What you’ll do:

  • Evaluate engineering documents, including engineering reports, detailed plans and specifications, and other submittals for drinking water projects to ensure compliance with standard engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and protection of public health and the environment.
  • Review environmental information specific to projects and prepare environmental impact determinations for drinking water projects.
  • Review and evaluate engineering documents and circumstances related to financially assisted projects during construction and initial stages of operation.
  • Coordinate closely with Financial Assistance Center team members, regional planning agencies, Department colleagues, including Compliance and Enforcement team members and Regional Office team members, regarding the status of projects of mutual interest.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to the regulated community, public citizens, private engineering consultants, legislators, and others with regard to laws, regulations, and engineering requirements through in-person or online meetings, written communications, and presentations.
  • Participate in training and technical conferences to remain current on engineering practice and innovative treatment technologies and effectively communicate this information and experience to other Department engineers and engineering consultants.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Assistant Engineer - A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline and 0-2 year’s relevant experience. (substitutions may be allowed)
  • Associate Engineer - A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline and 2-4 years relevant experience. (substitutions may be allowed)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is preferred
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments and manage multiple tasks with varying timelines.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical engineering information, analyze issues, and provide solutions.
  • Ability to apply broad application of engineering knowledge, relevant policies, and engineering standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
