Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent and reliable performance and attendance.

  • Create a culture of customer service.

  • Communicate respectfully and collaboratively with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.

  • Maintain current competent knowledge of relevant laws, rules and applicable policies and procedures, including but not limited to confidentiality and security.

  • Assist taxpayers on the phone and at the front counter by answering inquiries concerning state tax laws, rules, policies and filing requirements.

  • Research taxpayer accounts for status, refunds, errors, and transactions.

  • Assist taxpayers in registering for and navigating TAP (Taxpayer Access Point).

  • Assist taxpayers in obtaining permits and making timely payments.

  • Collect and process payments and ensure proper application to taxpayer accounts.

  • Reconcile cash drawers as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of state or federal income tax laws and rules (at least 3 months of experience where primary responsibilities included applying or explaining state or federal tax laws, rules, or policies and procedures to others, preparing tax returns as a professional or volunteer, or processing/filing income, sales or withholding tax returns for a business OR completion of at least 1 course or seminar where you learned to prepare tax returns)
  • At least 6 months of work experience interpreting, explaining and applying information such as laws, rules, and/or policies and procedures to customers on a regular basis
  • At least 6 months of experience using the internet for research.
