Job Description

This position will be filled at either the 2, 3, or 4 level, depending on the applicant's qualifications and job experience.
What you will be doing:
You will be working as a member of the Information Technology Section (ITS) Business Applications (BA) team on a variety of custom data applications, some that are vendor provided and some that are developed in-house. You will support software development within the Department of Health (DOH). New development projects in the DOH for web and Microsoft (MS) Windows production applications utilize C#/.NET and MS SQL Server; however, we have many legacy applications utilizing various technology sets. The successful candidate for this position will have strong analysis skills, strong web development skills, MS SQL Server/Oracle/Intersystems Cache` experience and skills, the ability to manage quickly changing priorities, and outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Performing front-line support for existing applications
  • Gathering and documenting requirements for enhancements to existing applications
  • Application Development using C#, .NET, MS BizTalk, MS SQL Server, Oracle or InterSystems Cache
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Daily communications with DOH ITS business partners using multiple business communication platforms, including teleconferences and face-to-face meetings

One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language, one year of which must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer, or computer system user support specialty.
Substitution:
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Analyst/Programmer 3

Special Note:
An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 2, 3, or 4 levels, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, and the applicant meets the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by the supervisor.
