DEPARTMENT: School Based Services
REPORTS TO: Program Director
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time-Non-exempt-40 hours per week
SALARY: $24-$26 per hour

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
StarVista's School Based Services has been providing high quality mental health services to San Mateo County students for over 10 years. The goal of this program is to support students in improving aspects of their lives that may lead to enhanced school performance and increased engagement in learning. In order to accomplish this goal, we send qualified mental health clinicians to each school site and provide a myriad of services including assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, family therapy, case management, psycho-education, and classroom presentations. StarVista staff also provide extensive consultation and training with teachers, parents, administration, and other school support staff.
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, well-qualified Bilingual Clinical Case Manager who has a passion for working with adolescents, to provide strength-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma informed case management services to students at Menlo-Atherton High School (MAHS). Many of the students we serve at MAHS are considered at-risk and face challenges including mental health issues, problems with tardiness or truancy, poor academic performance, significant psychosocial stressors, and behavior problems. The Clinical Case Manager will assess student needs and will help connect students and their families to school and community resources to address their needs. In addition to linking students to community resources, the Clinical Case Manager will work to build positive relationships with MAHS students, offering support, and crisis intervention on an as-needed basis. The Clinical Case Manager will collaborate regularly with MAHS Support Staff and report to the Student Support Services Coordinator.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide comprehensive case management for MAHS students and their families
  • Help students address academic, behavioral, social, and emotional challenges
  • Facilitate Tier Two: Alternatives to Suspension (ATS), a small after school/lunchtime group for re-offenders of school policies on substance use and aggressive behavior
  • Prepare and facilitate parent education and parent support groups
  • Maintain timely and appropriate documentation of all services using an electronic database
  • Cultivate and maintain a structured independent work schedule
  • Attend meetings and mandatory trainings, including team meetings with the StarVista MAHS team and regularly scheduled supervision
  • Translate communications between families, teachers and school staff (including conferences, meetings and phone calls)
  • Provide safe, effective, culturally competent and trauma informed implementation of direct care in accordance with the Agency's procedures and standards of care
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of San Mateo County resources, and/or experience working in a community-based setting providing services to children and families
  • Ability to connect to a diverse population of students and their families
  • Ability to maintain timely and appropriate documentation of all services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual Spanish is required
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, OR equivalent experience
  • A minimum of one year case management experience
  • Valid Drivers License
  • HR clearance, including TB test and Department of Justice LiveScan Fingerprint clearance
