Responsibilities

Summary

Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business needs, documenting requirements, revising existing system, and process issues. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities are essential, as well as hands-on experience with technical projects. The position entails managing multiple and concurrent high-level tasks in a fast-paced environment within established SLAs and timelines. The Product Owner is a domain expert who is responsible for owning the product iterations through its lifecycle. The product owner is a technical expert who can translate that into a strategic vision for the product end to end.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate the product vision clearly and concisely to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise to understand user needs, seek out new opportunities for product enhancements to build an actionable and prioritized product backlog.
  • Balance the needs of the business, the customer and technology to make timely, validated and clear decisions regarding the product and the prioritization of roadmap deliverables.
  • Contribute to the wider product roadmap planning and co-ordination effort to ensure a holistic customer experience, and professional operations.
  • Explain the product and its roadmap to business stakeholders across a retail enterprise: Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Control, Product Development, Store Operations, Human Capital, Finance and Real Estate.
  • Build an effective working relationship with the application design teams to define requirements and acceptance criteria, with the goal of delivering valuable solutions to business users.
  • Work with the business stakeholders and other Product Managers on aligning to the platform vision and strategy, and contributing to the overall future direction of the product.
  • Collaborate with engineers to establish feasibility and plan for the development of secure maintainable solutions.
  • Work across the enterprise to communicate the release of new features and encourage engagement with the business users to facilitate training, integration and feature adoption.
  • Assist testing teams in translating requirements, use cases into test conditions, and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to project management activities such as scoping and estimating project efforts, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, communicating activity status, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues.
  • Participate in quality management reviews, including designs, prototypes and other requirements work products.
  • Provide operational and process-related analysis and support.
  • Work with vendors to support business case development (consistent with technology requirements and guidelines) including benefits identification, RFI/RFP and service level agreements

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, preferably in a retail or wholesale environment.
  • Previous experience in software design, systems architecture or software development is preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to clearly articulate product vision.
  • The ability to turn a business discussion into product objectives and product design artifacts.
  • Experience working with project managers, solution architects and designers, quality assurance management and application developers to create the best user experience that addresses need, solves problems, and highlights opportunities.
  • Experience in delivering digital solutions using Agile methodology
  • Experience in using Azure DevOps and/or Jira
  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Supply Chain or equivalent experience is preferred.
