Job Summary:
Provide direction to the Center of the Study of the National Guard (CSNG) in planning, implementation, and management of center initiatives to meet project objectives.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages day-to-day activities for CSNG to include personnel supervision and project management.
2. Coordinates and directs grant-funded historical projects, including planning, organizing, and carrying out new and existing projects.
3. Foster and develop formal agreements with the National Guard to include the National Guard Bureau (NGB), the 54 States, Territories, and The District of Columbia, as well as universities and other partners.
4. Liaise with and manage fundraising initiatives related to CSNG and the university.
5. Coordinate and manage the receipt and storage of physical and digital unclassified and classified documents from NGB, the 54 States, Territories, and The District of Columbia, as well as universities and other partners.
6. Oversee and coordinate the design, planning, capture, preservation, and access of oral histories from NGB, the 54 States, Territories, and The District of Columbia, as well as universities and other partners.
7. Communicates and coordinates with state, regional, federal, and international groups (university administration, legislators, political leaders, agencies, contractors, non-governmental organizations, military agencies, etc.)
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with minimum of one National Guard deployment in a company or higher command position.Minimum grade requirement is O-5. Must currently have a secret clearance or be able to obtain one.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
•Consult with National Guard leadership at the state and NGB level to develop and maintain professional relationships and formal agreements.
•Plan and organize projects and effectively manage subordinate personnel to achieve program objectives.
•Present comments and opinions clearly and concisely and deal tactfully with others.
•Knowledge of project management principles and practices, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
•Understanding of grant-funded project management, including proposal development, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
•Familiarity with the National Guard structure, operations, and history.
•Understanding of fundraising principles and techniques.
•Knowledge of governmental and military organizational structures and protocols.
•Strong leadership and personnel management skills to effectively supervise staff and coordinate project teams.
•Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
•Communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with National Guard entities, universities, partners, and other stakeholders.
•Negotiation skills to develop formal agreements and manage fundraising initiatives.
•Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
•Ability to provide direction and vision to guide the Center for the Study of the National Guard in meeting project objectives.
•Capacity to foster and develop partnerships and formal agreements with National Guard entities, universities, and other partners.
•Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to address challenges and opportunities related to historical projects and fundraising initiatives.
•Flexibility and adaptability to navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
•Ability to communicate effectively with various groups, including university administration, legislators, military agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
•Leadership skills to represent the center professionally and advocate for its goals and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications: Overseas deployment in a company or higher-grade command position. Experience with National Guard Educational programs. Experience with National Guard History programs.
