    Compensation:
    Salary schedule based on Teacher contract, previous teaching experience and education.

    License Requirement:
    Current Minnesota license in 5-12 Communication Arts/Literature or 7-12 English/Language Arts
    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position is responsible for working with the SoWashCo Online Principal and with members of the SoWashCo Online team to create innovative and engaging content that helps students meet learning objectives. As part of this role the candidate would be tasked with instructing in their licensed content area and supporting the daily development of the student’s fullest acquisition of knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes. Based on enrollment trends the candidate may be tasked with creating original content for use in future course offerings.
    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Build your capacity to engage in authentic learning and teaching practices and continuous improvement at their site(s).
    • Integral part in the growth and development of SoWashCo Online.
    • Collaborate with technology integrationists to support best practice related to the use of technology.
    • Continually monitor changing trends in online education and instructional technology.
    • Promote strategies that reduce or eliminate racial disparities in student outcomes.
    • Ensure strategies and resources support specific students, including EL support, special education services, and advanced learners, are integrated into SoWashCo Online classes.
    • Play an active role in discussions focused on authentic learning and innovative learning opportunities.
    • Maintain confidentiality and data privacy for employees and students.
    • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
    • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
    • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
    • Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
    • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress, and to determine priorities for their children’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
    • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic concerns.
    • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
    • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
    • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress.
    • Administer standardized, formative and state mandated assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need.
    • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
    Required:
    • Current Minnesota teacher licensure for subject area and level taught.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

    • Demonstrated leadership and passion for effective online opportunities for students
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
