The Clinical Medical Assistant works in coordination with Medical Providers and staff to provide high quality healthcare services to patients. Performs diagnostic testing on patients based upon appointment type and need. Supports the Front Desk Receptionist as needed as patient volume dictates.
Works with Medical Providers in the assessment and treatment. Follows established protocols in performing diagnostic testing.
Perform patient intake duties based upon appointment type including taking vital signs and measurements, updating patient health history and medication lists in the chart.
Perform in-house diagnostic testing including EKGs, PFTs, Urinalysis, Audiology, Visual Acuity, Universal Drug and BAT testing, TB testing, Blood Draws, and other CLIA-waived tests as required. This includes proper documentation of the results.
Perform treatments in the office under the direction of the medical provider such as wound care and suture removal, applying splints and wraps, injections, and assisting providers with more complexed procedures.
Preparing and cleaning surgical area and instruments before and after procedures. Cleaning and sterilizing exam room areas per clinic and department policy regarding infection control procedures. Restocking supplies as needed.
Prepare specimens for transport to laboratories for testing. Updating temperature control logs and medication and supply inventory sheets.
Providing clerical support by registering patients in the clinic EHR, following up with authorization requests, filing and faxing patient documentation as needed, answering phones and processing messages to and from providers, and patient chart management.
Participate in monthly staff meetings.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a occupational healthcare setting is preferred, but not required. Licenses & Certifications: Must have successfully completed a Medical Assistant Certification training course from an accredited school or university and has proof of current BLS training. Required Skills & Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Medical terminology and procedures, Strong interpersonal skills, Basic office procedures and ability to work on personal computer, Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and workflow while multi-tasking, Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm, Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from various backgrounds, Understand and respond to a diverse population. Bilingual preferred.
