Under general supervision performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the hospital systems and infrastructure. Follows scheduled preventative maintenance and demand work orders. Respond to various emergency codes in the facility. Maintain equipment rooms and work places in clean condition.Responsibilities:
Follow preventive maintenance program. Plan and organize monthly work load of preventive maintenance tasks. Create and close work orders in Micromain system if needed.
Conduct daily equipment rounds, analyze collected information and readings and take actions to correct deficiencies if needed. Report out of specs conditions to the coordinator and the department manager.
Conduct monthly Fire Drills in the hospital and off site facilities. Provide in-service and education to the personnel participating in those drills.
Conduct New Hire Orientation in regards to Engineering as part of the hospital-wide orientation program. Present the basics of the emergency preparedness, basic live safety equipment functions and general employee's responsibilities.
Using approved vendors, research and order parts and tools necessary for repairs.
Respond to calls from the floors and engineering coordinator to perform necessary troubleshooting and repairs to any facility equipment's and structure. Communicate effectively with Engineering coordinator and customers about work done and any delays and progress.
Weekly or as often as needed sweep equipment rooms and wipe clean all the equipment in CUPs. Maintain engineering shops and storage areas in clean and organized condition.
Provide troubleshooting and repairs to facility equipment: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc. Work with vendors to assist in troubleshooting and repairs.
Report to the hospital with in 20 minutes while on call. Work with Nursing Supervisor to evaluate a problem and provide most appropriate solution. Immediately informs the department manager of any call backs effecting patient care or hospital infrastructure.
Work various shifts and hours if required.
Qualifications: Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience : Minimum of three years previous work experience with similar equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.

Required Skills & Knowledge : Effectively communicate with department manager, coordinator, engineers and hospital staff. Follow verbal and written directions; demonstrate mechanical ability; keep accurate records; install, operate and make repairs to the various types of equipment; make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications; analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Knowledge and understanding of boilers and auxiliary boiler room equipment; heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, power, refrigeration, building electric and pneumatic controls, water treatment and other mechanical and electrical equipment; methods, tools, materials and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of such equipment, email and Microsoft Office Suite.
