Job Description:
The Director Data Center and Hardware Planning reports to the VP Global IT Infrastructure and is responsible for all HPE data center and tech room operations.
This position has equal focus on operational execution and transformational initiatives and requires a high degree of collaboration with other technical and business leaders to ensure our solutions are business aligned. This role ensures that day-to-day delivery of data center services meets or exceeds business expectations and works to ensure continual improvement on SLAs and communication. He / she responds to industry trends by helping business leaders facilitate the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help the organization innovate and drive toward targeted business outcomes.
Strategic and Operational Planning and Execution
  • Defines the HPE data center and hardware mission, vision, and strategic direction, optimizing support for both business and IT enterprise initiatives.
  • Manages and oversees the annual data center and hardware budget, ensuring alignment with IT and enterprise strategic objectives while fostering a culture of ongoing cost optimization.
  • Defines and executes data center operating procedures including metrics to measure and benchmark performance.
  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing security plans and security programs including Emergency Response and Crisis Management, Physical Security, and Incident Management. Coordinates site investigations with the Global Intelligence and Investigative team
  • Provides strategic guidance and supervision throughout the entire lifecycle of IT HW systems, collaborating closely with peers to identify opportunities for efficient, standardized solutions and shared Infrastructure platforms.
  • Balances enterprise risk and agility by offering technology recommendations to senior business and IT leaders, facilitating consensus and buy-in.
Build and Maintain Relationships
  • Establishes strong relationships with key stakeholders within IT, fostering a deep understanding of application requirements, serving as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-efficient delivery of IT HW to fulfill those needs.
  • Partners closely with the Cyber Security Organization to ensure that the data center infrastructure and operations aligns with, embraces, and implements the security strategy effectively.
  • Collaborates with fellow IT leaders to create an environment where knowledge and insights can be openly exchanged.
  • Engages in negotiations and exercises influence with partners and service providers to secure optimal outcomes for infrastructure and the broader business.
  • Breaks down organizational barriers horizontally and vertically to cultivate the most impactful stakeholder relationships.
Drives Innovation
  • Introduces innovative and distinctive data center and HW infrastructure solutions to enhance our competitive capabilities and boost employee productivity.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and provides guidance on integrating emerging technologies into data center and HW products and services to effectively align with the broader IT strategy.
  • Actively seeks out new technologies and strategic partnerships that confer a competitive advantage, positioning HPE hardware infrastructure solutions as an innovation leader rather than a follower.
  • Advocates for Data center team's active participation in the global IT organization's innovation initiatives, encouraging experimentation with novel solutions to seize business opportunities.
Executes Against Business Priorities
  • Collaborates with IT leaders to manage the service portfolio and governance processes for resource prioritization, including budget allocation. Manage HW end-of-life and end-of-service-life with a continuous process of HW refresh and renewal.
  • Formulates business cases that comprehensively evaluate costs and benefits, fostering collaborative decision-making. Enhances HW infrastructure resilience by implementing strategies that bolster reliability and readiness for disaster recovery.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of the business value delivered by data center team, utilizing metrics such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Outcome-Driven Metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Promotes the adoption and commitment to service improvements through a systematic approach to continuous enhancement, measuring the impact and sharing the achieved results.
Team Leadership
  • Holds high standard and sets the benchmarks for the team to achieve or exceed.
  • Cultivates and empowers a robust and diverse Infrastructure team, fostering growth and development.
  • Collaborates with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) to formulate a data center and hardware sourcing strategy and provide executive oversight for the management of strategic vendor and partner relationships.
  • Collaborates with HR and the IT leadership team to create and implement workforce plans that ensure the data center team can meet demand with a pool of skilled resources.
  • Constructs a compelling employee value proposition for data center professionals, attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Promotes a culture characterized by inclusivity, continuous learning, and transparency within the organization.

Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $133,000.00 - $322,000.00
