PARENT LIAISON

OUR MISSION

Through academic rigor, character development, and a structured learning environment, Soleil Academy Charter School ensures that every transitional kindergarten through 5th grade scholar has the foundation necessary for college success and a future bright with opportunity.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Parent Liaison will report to the School Operations Manager. The parent liaison must develop positive interpersonal relationships with the entire school community including staff, students, families, and visitors. Responsibilities vary from day to day and include but are not limited to coordinating parent engagement events and communication, overseeing campus monitors, and working towards increasing our overall engagement to the community.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Builds relationships with families and community members to support the school's connection with the wider learning community.

  • Conduct family outreach to advertise school events, increase communication between the school and families, and develop mechanisms to elicit input from families.

  • Responsible for the creation and distribution of regular family communications

  • Ensures all family-facing materials are readily available and accessible to all members of the team & family.

  • Supports school team members with scheduling family meetings as needed.

  • Connect with potential nearby feeder schools and arrange an informational meeting to present options for families

  • Conduct community outreach and engagement; Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parent/guardians remaining sensitive to different families’ cultures, values, and needs.

  • Conducts needs assessments to identify social emotional, mental health, curricular, and academic services that are most needed at the school site.

  • Works with the school leadership team, staff, families, and agencies to design and implement the identified services at the school.

  • Engages community-based organizations in partnerships to address critical needs in support of student achievement.

  • Evaluate services to identify gaps, build on existing supports, and monitor outcomes, and the effectiveness of partnerships.

  • Initiates, facilitates, and coordinates programs and strategies that support the school.

  • Promotes, develops, and ensures services are maximized to the extent of their capacity at the school site.

  • Creates and implements the community school-site plan in collaboration with all school stakeholders.

  • Integrates and aligns community resources serving the school, including tutoring, primary health, arts, recreation, academic, curricular and other resources identified as partners per the need assessment and school-wide initiatives.

  • Provides coordination of programs during and beyond the school day for students, families, and the community.

  • Serves as a liaison between the service provider and the school site administrator.

  • Draft, report, and submit necessary documentation for the Community Schools Grant

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

  • Create, implement, and monitor volunteer programs for families and community members.

  • Determine, in partnership with school teams, the volunteer needs of the school community and pathways for family and community volunteers to partner.

  • Ensure all volunteers have been vetted including background checks and completed volunteer packet; manage volunteers.

  • Track all volunteer hours, by family, by event, and by month

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Support quarterly all campus family events including planning, set up, communication, and follow-up.

  • Coordinates logistics and content creation for school events and activities, such as Cafecito, Community Schools Meetings, summer parent orientations parent workshops, parent conferences, field trips, parent volunteers, etc.

  • Outreach to 3rd party services that can support the work with parent engagement. (Ex: LACC Courses for Parents)

  • Create a roadmap of planned engagement activities throughout the school year for parents to participate in actively.

SUPPORT SCHOOL OPERATION

  • Support Operations team in the re-enrollment process for families including intent to return forms, follow up on required paperwork, and other supports as needed.

  • Support all enrollment outreach before and after the annual lottery, including holding, planning, and attending recruitment events, tours, and other supports.

  • Following the annual lottery, support the operations team in the collection of all required documentation.

  • Plan and support new Soleil families from the time of lottery to matriculation to campus, including activities such as tours, family meetings, connecting new families with team members, summer packets, etc.

  • Homeless and foster youth point of contact

  • Supervision of students during arrival, breakfast, nutrition, lunch, and after school

  • Work with the operations team to implement the school’s mission

  • Performs or manages other functions as assigned

Highly preferred:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination (Up to date)

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 years of school operations experience

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: Soleil provides competitive salaries, which are reviewed every three years. Based on relevant prior work experience, our hourly range for this role is $25.00 - $30.46. Please click HERE for more information on our salary schedule.
