The GraphQL team at Varo is the engine behind our highly rated Android, iOS, and web apps that our customers love and use in their daily lives. As part of the customer GraphQL team, we work very closely with the iOS, Android, and Web teams to build their schemas and do the heavy lifting so that the apps can focus on the UI experiences. We process millions of operations a day and work on top of the latest Apollo Graphql stack. We work with product managers, backend developers, and other engineering stakeholders in building a scalable orchestration layer for the bank.

What you'll be doing

Lead the efforts to build new and modern GraphQL schemas for Mobile and Web clients that will be used by millions of customers for their financial needs
Partner with the client, backend engineers, and product owners to define the client interfaces
Implement best API practices on our team
Write well-designed, well-tested, readable, maintainable code; participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and distribute knowledge
Help lead large projects from idea to positive execution

You'll bring the following required skills and experiences

5 years experience in building GraphQL and/or REST APIs using Node.js or other similar languages
Strong knowledge of and experience with modern JavaScriptExperience and understanding of Domain-Driven Design in a professional environment
Experience with and understanding of best practices when it comes to what constitutes a production-ready microservices
Experience in event-driven architecture, pub/sub
Experience with performance tuning production architecture
