THE CHALLENGE This role is a position within the Tax team, reporting to the Tax Director, working closely with the Corporate Tax Administrator, and leveraging the expertise of our service providers. You will own, manage, and work with the Corporate Tax Administrator to streamline a timely and accurate compliance process for US federal and state income tax, financial reporting, property tax, and sales & use tax.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversee and review filing for multi-state, consolidated corporation that includes BEAT and Section 163(j) considerations
- Lead the preparation and review of annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Manage tax equity partnership compliance process, which often requires interfacing with sophisticated investors
- Own tax calculations in financial models such as tracking models and quarterly HLBV
- Manage property tax return process and assist Director with valuation decisions
- Ensure compliance with sales & use tax and prepare analysis as requested (transitioning to sales tax automation software in Q1 2025)
- Mentor and develop staff
- Manage and coordinate any tax audits that arise
- Other duties, reports, and analysis as assigned
THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance preferred. Experience may substitute for degree. Masters in Taxation or CPA a plus.
- Four (4) - six (6) years of experience; Big 4 or national accounting firm and large corporation tax department experience preferred
- Power industry tax experience (preferably wind and solar renewable energy)
- Experience working in the areas of US partnership tax, HLBV, ASC740, tax incentives, and tax law changes
- Experience in modification of sophisticated Excel spreadsheets
- Strong organizational and management skills with proven ability to navigate through emergent work and competing priorities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of company personnel and external customers.
- Self-starter, ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT Onward Energy is currently implementing a hybrid office environment, with team members in the office at least two days per week. The position functions in a smoke and vape free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, and scanner/photocopier.
