Full job description

D.H. Smith and Sons is a family-owned company and a leader in the Outdoor Power Equipment and landscape supplies industry.

We are located in Marshfield MA. We offer sales, parts, and service for Kioti Tractors, Ariens and Gravely Mowers, Husqvarna, and various other manufacturers.

As our service manager you will be responsible for maintaining and improving an industry-leading parts and service department.

The best should always be looking to get better, and we expect the same drive from our service manager. You'll be asked to lead a team of service professionals to ensure delivery of outstanding service experiences for customers while optimizing efficiency and productivity.

We have an amazing group of service department employees. We're looking for a success-driven person with a leadership skillset who can take what we've built, improve upon it and grow the parts and service department to another level.

We're looking for a person who has the vision and skillset to take the department to new heights.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for hiring, training and performance management of all service department personnel.
  • Develop & implement service strategies to meet customers' needs and improve service quality.
  • Monitor service metrics, such as productivity and profitability and take proactive measures to improve them.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of service work orders and necessary documentation.
  • Maintain technician service training records and ensure continuous educational growth of our technicians.
  • Ensure all manufacturers' required training and records are kept up to date.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and new technologies to ensure the service department continues to be an industry leader.
  • Learn and utilize our Dealer management software (Ideal) to its full and greatest potential.
  • Monitor customer reviews and feedback through our CRM database to identify and assist customers with issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Use good problem-solving skills to handle complex customer issues and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
  • The ability to adjust schedule to meet our high demand periods.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Management experience
  • Mechanical experience and skillset.
  • Service industry knowledge, not just outdoor power equipment. We're looking for fresh ideas from other industries. We're always looking to grow and improve!
  • Leadership and people management skills
  • Customer relationship management experience.
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer experience.
