KRCR / KCVU has an immediate opening in Redding, CA for an Executive Producer / Assignment Desk Editor to oversee news content for fairness, balance, and accuracy. In this role, you will work closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom leaders on daily story selection and coverage. You will also handle some assignment desk duties including court checks, planner management, and contacting various agencies and companies as part of the newsgathering process. As a newsroom leader, the expectation is that the Executive Producer will lead by example. 

Responsibilities of the Executive Producer include - Oversee daily newscasts to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, protect, and empower our audiences - Supervise producers and reporters, as well as, review scripts and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling - Manage newsroom and handle breaking news situations to empower and grow our audiences - Collaborate with News Directors and other leaders to create special segments - Planning and overseeing continuity into upcoming newscasts - Assisting digital team and newsroom by creating content for station's digital and social platforms

Qualifications needed to be successful

• Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news, and meeting strict deadlines
• Ability to identify problems and provide solutions
• A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
• Strong people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating
• Must be able to assess the importance of current events, react quickly to breaking news, and communicate effectively with staff members
• Must be forward-looking to assist in planning for future events and needed follow-ups heading into the next shift
• The ability to edit, write and manage news stories, photos, videos, live streaming, and interactive content for all digital platforms, including KRCRTV.com, mobile, social media, and emerging technologies
• Minimum of 2 (years experience) producing in a television news environment or equivalent
• Strong writing and communication skills 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for planner management, court checks, and assisting producers and reporters in gathering information for stories in progress
• Reacting to breaking news quickly, sharing information with the team accurately, and staying in constant communication with the newsroom as stories develop
• Creating late-breaking content for all digital and social platforms including krcrtv.com and the station's various social media accounts and technologies
• Supervise producers and reporters, as well as, review scripts and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling
• Manage newsroom and handle breaking news situations to empower and grow our audiences
• Collaborate with News Directors and other station managers to create special segments
• Planning and overseeing continuity into upcoming newscasts

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $19.00 to $21.00 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
