ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
•Inputs additions, deletions and revisions on the school registry, maintaining an updated
database on district special needs students and referrals utilizing multiple software systems.
•Establishes new computer file formats as necessary
•Prepares required reports for the State Department of Education
•Acts as the District contact person for data on these reports
•Works with Transportation to add students to special education busses
•Scans records for inactive and graduating students with Individual Education Plans (IEP's)
•Responsible for transfer tuition information and correspondence
•Maintains files and summary data on special education pupils for state reports
•Works closely with technology staff in the compiling of IEP, student, and special education
data
•Maintains accurate and confidential files and records for special education, including legal
proceedings
•Serves as an information desk for special and general education personnel, parents, and the
public regarding special education, residency, transportation, and special education state reports
•Takes messages, answers routine telephone/email inquiries, types correspondence, forms, memos
for the special education/student services department
•Performs other tasks as the Director, Superintendent or his/her designee may assign
•Maintains satisfactory attendance
•Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
•Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent; experience working in an office setting preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a computer and related software. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and the ability to interact positively with schools and community. Ability to handle a multitude of responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, students, community members, or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
