Impact Solutions is Hiring a Director Compliance Near Los Angeles, CA

Primary Purpose/Function:
Responsible for the support of the Company's operating assets (and assets in development) and compliance with all applicable Environmental (e.g., air, water, waste), Health & Safety (“EHS”) and other regulations including NERC. Plan and implement programs and standards to protect employee and community health and assure compliance with facility safety and environmental responsibilities. Represent Company in working with regulatory agencies involving
EHS and regulatory items. Provide leadership and training to ensure a sustainable safety and compliance culture at all Company projects. Interact with site Asset Managers, coordinate project compliance and auditing efforts. Provide coordination and oversite with third party consultants for all regulatory compliance programs (including NERC).
Supervision of Others
• This position will provide leadership and support to the VP- Operations and site Management teams.
• Manage site EHS Coordinators and corporate Compliance Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Fleetwide implementation of compliance strategies, programs, policies, and standards.
• Forecasts, strategizes, formulates, and designs the Company's environmental, health, safety and regulatory programs, and works with indirect reports to implement the programs.
• Identifying risk areas and developing short-term and long-term strategies to address them.
• Monitor Compliance with Federal, State, and local EHS regulations (including NERC).
• Provides support and oversite to EHS Coordinators and plant managers in government audits for EHS and regulatory (NERC) compliance.
• Establishes annual EHS priorities/targets.
• Review and approve/reject proposed updates to Company EHS standards to ensure they meet local, state, and federal rules, regulations and industry agreed upon best practices.
• Collects, analyzes, and identifies trends based on injury and illness data, and recommends and/or implements corrective action to improve the environmental, health and safety record, and reduce injury rates and worker's compensation costs for Company.
• Supports implementation of environmental regulatory compliance using corporate standards and guidelines.
• Maintains supporting relationship with Plant Managers and Asset Managers for project specific issues.
• Oversee the implementation and ongoing activities in key programs such as Ergonomic, Electrical Safety, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and Personnel safety through Standards implementation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain learning management system (including compliance, O&M and Safety related training) for the Company fleet.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated background and skill set in the leadership of professionals in the energy / power generation sector.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Engineering or Science. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in EHS, preferably in the power generation industry.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS preferred.
• Working knowledge of California Energy Commission (CEC) and California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with air quality management districts and state air resource boards such as CARB.
Knowledge – Education/Experience (preferred)
• Professional EHS certification (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CIH, REM, etc.).
• Certifications: CSHO, CSP, CESCO, Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Human Performance Improvement, Root Cause Investigation (RCI) or ERM a plus.
• Membership in American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
Skills / Abilities
• Must be willing to travel to other sites and other locations as directed up to 25- 50%.
• Candidates must have and maintain a current valid driver's license.
