Albin Engineering Services, Inc. (www.aesi.com) is looking for a Controller for one of our premier clients. This is a direct hire role that will be reporting onsite to the President in San Francisco, CA. As their employee, you qualify for their full benefit package. Job Responsibilities:
Lead the accounting team. Hire, manage and develop team members; cross-train team members and document processes for continuity in case of staff turnover; manage and/or collaborate with outside partners
Deliver accurate, timely monthly financial reports. Close the books in accordance with GAAP; prepare internal financial statements and analytical reports (e.g. KPIs); confirm validity of reports for data analysis; prepare monthly financial package for owners; collaborate with CPA on annual tax returns and reviewed financial statements.
Lead the Accounts Receivable (A/R) process to get paid by customers in a timely manner. From precon risk identification to contract terms review; from job set up to SOV and T&M billing; from routine collections follow up to escalation; through final receipt of funds.
Lead the monthly WIP process. Ensure accurate job costing, draft WIP, review WIP with project managers, make adjustments, and report on gain/fade drivers to help improve job profit and cash flow.
Manage and forecast cash flow both short- and long-term.
Day-to-day financial operations. Oversee and continuously improve: banking and treasury, union and non-union payroll, A/R, A/P, weekly flash reports, job set up and close out, insurance, surety, etc.
Meet reporting and compliance requirements. Corporate income tax, shareholder estimated tax payments, property and sales/use tax, business taxes, union reporting, R&D credits, 401K, insurance renewals and audits, etc.
Maintain, test, and evolve a system of financial controls that safeguards cash, data and physical assets; securely stores files in a well-organized manner.
Compile the annual budget; measure actual vs. budget monthly; highlight cost overruns.
Optimize the companys use of Vista and related financial software.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance or related fields
5 years of experience in construction accounting
Experience with a construction-specific ERP essential; Vista by Viewpoint preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and ability to learn/use other software programs
