SUMMARY

H.J. Russell is seeking a dedicated Field Inspector to join our team in our Atlanta office and will support the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Centralized Project Management Office (CMPO). In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing project quality in order to support MARTA’s pursuit of rehabilitating, enhancing, and expanding its $6B Capital Improvement Program. This position offers a unique opportunity for extensive fieldwork, requiring travel to various project sites to ensure all construction activities comply with project specifications, codes, and standards. The Field Inspector will report directly to the project manager and play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and quality of our construction projects, providing a platform for professional growth and development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Inspector will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular and thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and local codes.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, report any deviations or defects, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, including photographs, notes, and compliance logs, to support compliance and auditing processes.
  • Compliance: The Field Inspector's role is not just about ensuring quality; it's about ensuring safety. They verify that all site operations are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations, playing a vital role in protecting the well-being of our workers and the success of our projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss and resolve quality issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback and recommendations to project teams to improve construction practices and outcomes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Field Inspector or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction details, and blueprint reading.
  • Technical diploma or certification in Civil Engineering, Quality Assurance, or relevant field.
  • Ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with digital project management/inspection tools and software.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
