Job Description

This position is currently located in Juneau.
The position may be in Anchorage or Juneau , depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.
What you will be doing:
In this role, you will primarily be responsible for conducting professional functional assessments face to face, which requires periodic travel to other parts of Alaska or via telehealth, for applicants and existing recipients of Home Community Based Wavier Services (HCBS), Community First Choice (CFC), and Personal Care Services (PCS), to determine if services are necessary, are of the proper type and level for the client to receive adequate care, and meet regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing thoroughly and clearly documented assessment findings in order to make a justifiable and evidence-based conclusion after analyzing data on the Client Assessment Tool (CAT). You will also be responsible for representing the division during the mediation and the Fair Hearing process.

The working environment you can expect:
The Anchorage office is located in Northeast Anchorage (1831 Bragaw Street). It is near Costco, East High School, and various restaurants and a coffee shop. Parking is readily available at the building.
The Juneau office is located in the heart of downtown Juneau. Our team consists of 13 assessors, two supervisors and two support staff who work closely and cooperatively under the direction of the Assessment Unit Manager.
Once the probationary period has been successfully completed, a hybrid teleworking schedule is an option

Minimum Qualifications

  • Public Health: Applies knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing, and responding to infectious diseases.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field;
AND/OR
Progressively responsible professional experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care.

Special Note: Agencies employing Health Program Managers are responsible for administering a wide range of medical, behavioral, and social health insurance programs for children and adults. Positions typically focus on a particular health area. Where licensure is required, the job vacancy announcement will identify the type of license necessary to apply for that specific position. The essential functions of some positions may involve exposure to infectious disease and/or biohazards. Travel may be required.
