Position description:
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency. Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts. Provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Configure Unix, Linux operating systems. Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Required skills:
• Full time work in a SCIF is required, but hours are flexible • Requires Bachelor's degree in related field of study with 8 or more years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• TS/SCI with ability to pass a CI polygraph • Security or other IAT II/III level certification that is currently active • Linux (CentOS, RHEL, and/or Oracle). This position requires strong Linux skills with current/very recent experience.
• Experience working in an AWS environment • Performing snapshots, disaster recovery, performance tuning • Installation, STIG hardening, patching • Excellent troubleshooting skills and Tier 1 communication skills • Experience developing and maintaining critical documentation (SIPs, SAGs, SOPs, Getting started guides)
Desired skills:
• Experience working with Agile scrum teams • Experience with ElasticSearch • Cloud (EC2s, S3, Elasticache), Kafka, Openshift, Docker, Keycloak, Wildfly • PKI certificates, SSL, service accounts • Maintaining multiple environment types (physical, virtual, cloud) • Current CI poly
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or field applicable to the position required.
- 8 or more years of relevant experience required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
