THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
SciensBuilding Solutionsis seeking anexperiencedFire Alarm SystemsTechnicianwithprogramming, commissioning, and troubleshooting capabilitiesand experience. This position will work closely with our sales team,field project teams,and clients to ensure a sound design,and seamless installation and commissioning of our firealarmsolutions. Thisis a key position for our growing teamandrequires attention to detail in all aspects ofexecuting projects. Customer andemployee interfacerequirea high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written are importantelementsof the position.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
  • Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management, and sales departments for a successful project execution.
  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
  • Responsible for programming, commissioning and final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) of complex firealarmsystems.
  • Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
  • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
  • Responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.
  • Oversight for project inventoryand responsible for vehicle inventory.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.
  • Customer-focused, skilled in project and people management.
  • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Proficient in issue resolution.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge offire industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight as needed.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
  • Two to five yearsof experience in a technician role within the fire detection and protection environment.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to program and commission mid-range fire alarm systems using a laptop computer.
  • Knowledgeable in NFPA 72 code requirements.
  • Knowledge of Florida fire procedures, filing, and requirements.
  • Ability to read fire system design drawings,
  • NICET level I.
