Position Summary: The MRI Technologist is responsible for providing technical/clinical support to the Imaging Department. Collect key information from the patient, family, provider, and nurses that are specific to the exam being performed in order to assist the provider in the proper diagnosis. Educate patient, family or provider as to the extent and detail of each procedure, including informed consent as well as pre-and post-procedure instructions. Ensure patient is properly dressed and screened before entering MRI safety zone 3. Adhere to MRI safety zones (1-4) per policy. Assist provider during invasive procedures. Research and document patients' medical history to assure that the patient is safe to be in the MRI environment. Verify completeness and accuracy of MRI patient screening questionnaire. Ensure the proper exam is being administered to the patient. Ensure proper patient positioning, coil selection and coil positioning. Consult provider as needed. Maintain proper inventory levels of all supplies as required. Perform daily equipment inspections. Participate in call rotation as needed. Performs the most advanced tasks with no supervision. Subject matter expert in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Responsible for American College of Radiology (ACR) MRI testing/accreditation requirements, site specific. Identify patient needs and determine priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Responsible for ensuring patient care needs are met through effective management of staffing resources and operations. Lead and mentor others, acting as the first point of escalation.
