Pay Range: $24.46 to $34.48
Position Summary –
The Hazardous Drug/Chemo Pharmacy Technician assists the Oncology Infusion Pharmacist with preparation of sterile IV medications which are in majority high risk hazardous drugs, and antibiotics. Admixture is to be done in a USP <797> compliant clean room and following USP <800> standards for handling hazardous medication. This position performs distribution of medications according to established procedure, maintains adequate inventory levels and performs operational duties in a scheduled area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –
Performed majority of the time:
· Works in a team with the Oncology Pharmacist to provide excellent care to patients.
· Orders, receives and stores Hazardous Drugs properly.
· Prepares and maintains adequate stock of IV room bulk medication.
· Prepares sterile medications safely and accurately in both laminar flow hoods and Bio Safety Cabinets (chemo hoods).
· Prepares sterile chemo therapy IV infusion and medications safely and accurately in Biological Safety Cabinet.
· Follows procedure to clean the Biological Safety Cabinet and the Hazardous Drug Room per USP <797> and USP <800> regulations.
· Obtains pharmacist verification for work completed for direct patient use.
· Able to calculate verification, preparation, priming, and programming of a CADD Cassette containing a hazardous drug.
· Proficient in math calculations to computed dose and volume of additives.
· Proficiently uses the Closed System Transfer Device system (CSTD).
· Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
· Prepares and calls in drug orders in the absence of the Pharmacy Technician – Buyer.
· Manages stock replacement and ordering for the infusion center needs.
· Maintains compliance with pharmacy policy and procedure manual.
· Answers telephone and conveys information in an accurate, timely manner identifying self as technician staff.
· Attends to customers at front window.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
· Works with other pharmacy technicians as needed to take care of patients.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
· N/A
Preferred
· Graduate from an accredited technician training program strongly preferred.
Experience:
Required
· One (1) year of IV admixture experience
Preferred
· Acute care hospital experience.
· Experience working with pharmaceutical data for reporting purposes and to support clinical pharmacy program.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Required
· Licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) within the State of Oregon.
Preferred
· Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT).
