Position Description:
In the Aircraft Technical Services (ATS) department, we manage the integration, installation, and certification of Intelsat Inflight systems onboard multiple commercial aircraft types. As an ATS Project Engineer, you will lead talented technical teams on multiple projects through all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including proposal development, project plans and budgets, resource allocation, deliverable tracking, risk/issue management, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
•Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams and vendors through the design, substantiation, and certification of Intelsat Inflight systems and components onboard multiple commercial aircraft types.
•Support the ATS Project Engineering Team on IFEC aircraft integration and certification projects by tracking project schedules and delivery statuses, risks and issues, actions, and resources.
•Support the development and release of project proposal, statements of work, project plans, etc. to identify technical approach, timeframe, funding and resource requirements, and processes for accomplishment.
•Lead continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating and coordinating with various ATS stakeholders in documenting and implementing process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the requirements below):
•Experience, or a strong desire, to lead technical integration projects involving Commercial aircraft certification, structural, and/or electrical engineering.
•Experience, or a strong desire to learn, practical knowledge of project management theory, concepts and principles (e.g., theory of constraints, critical path methodology, project risk management, triple constraints, project scope management, project management lifecycle, etc.)
•Demonstrable proficiency in MS Project and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
•Great communication skills with all levels of employees, both internal and external customers, including presentations, negotiations, and written reports.
12 Week Schedule:
Week 1-3: Introduction and training on the integration, installation, and certification processes involved in bringing Intelsat Inflight systems to life onboard several commercial aircraft types. Foundational training of project management theory (PMP based), Microsoft Project, and Intelsat Software/Application systems and tools.
Week 4-6: Kickoff and manage your own high-visibility and time-critical project with support from an experienced Project Engineer in a mentor-mentee relationship.
Week 7-10: Manage your own a high-visibility and time-critical project. - Week 10-12: Close out your project and perform a Project Closure Review with the integrated project team and management stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
•Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24 credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
•Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
•Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
•Good oral and written communication skills
•Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
•3.0 GPA or above preferred
Summer Intern Program Description:
•Paid $18/hour; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 27, 2024 through August 16, 2024
•Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 - 5 or regular core hours
•Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
