Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN OUTPATIENT TEACHER!

The Outpatient Teacher is responsible to help students develop skills and knowledge consistent with the district’s curriculum and goals that will contribute to the student’s development. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a classroom climate which nurtures and supports for the learning environment. Teachers work under the direction of a Program Manager.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  1. Recognize and respond to priorities in patient care responsibilities.
  2. Supervise and assist patients in all patient areas.
  3. Check patients for contraband and manage the patient's valuables and belongings.
  4. Report potential crisis situations to the nurse in charge and responds in an appropriate fashion.
  5. Ensure patient safety through continuous supervision of patient.
  6. Establish and maintain a professional therapeutic relationship with patients.
  7. Promotes positive self-concept/self-esteem in students.
  8. Demonstrates a willingness to keep curriculum and instructional practices current.
  9. Supports facility regulations and policies.
  10. Assess patients for behaviors consistent with the developmental stages and make note of any
    deviations in behavior, and/or history of physical and/or sexual abuse issues.
  11. Recognize acting out behavior of child specific age group and set appropriate limits in clear, concise,
    behavioral and non-judgmental terms based on the age of the patient.
  12. Demonstrate an awareness of learning disabilities and translates treatment/program expectations to the learning disabled child.

Qualifications


Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in education, social services, or appropriate discipline, preferred.

Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of various teaching methods. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification through the State is preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion CPR certification and Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression within 90 days of employment. May be required to work flexible hours.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of all code procedures.
  2. Knowledge of personal hygiene training techniques.
  3. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with children and parents.
  6. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  7. Ability to stand sit or walk up to six hours, sit for up to two hours.
  8. Ability to move frequently.
  9. Visual acuity is needed for demonstrating activities or assisting children in activities.
  10. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  11. Ability to frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height kneel, bend, stoop, turn, twist.

Compensation:

This is a Full Time, exempt role and the expected compensation range is between $46,000.00 and $50,000.00 annually. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Teacher!
