Elliot W. Cooperman, M.D., P.A. is Hiring an Ophthalmic Technician Near Orlando, FL

Position Summary

Elliot W. Cooperman, M.D., P.A. is looking for an ophthalmic technician to work at our busy retina office in Orlando. The chosen candidate will assist in the smooth operations of the ophthalmology practice by performing basic, advanced and complex procedures. Tasks should be handled accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. Must be well organized and have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, have excellent computer skills, communicate effectively with patients, physicians and other staff members. Must be flexible in work assignments and schedule; must uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality and other performance standards. One year of ophthalmology experience required,experience in retina highly desirable. Salary is based on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential skills and abilities

  • Understanding of ophthalmic practice work flow and patient care.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular medications.
  • Display ability to perform patient work up based on chief complaint and patient history.
  • Prepares patients for ophthalmology examination by dilating their pupils; reporting patient history summary and recording changes in visual acuity.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform proper EMR clinical chart documentation.
  • Performing tests based on the specific reasons for the visit and physician’s preference. Test include but not limited to OCT's, Fluorescein Angiograms – Fundus Photos, IOP with Icare, Amsler grids.
  • Utilizes proper universal precautions procedures and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare and other insurance documentation requirement.
  • Ability to communicate with physicians, patients, co-workers and supervisors is critical.
  • Has experience assisting with ocular injections, BScans, Lasers, Cryo's.

Requirements

  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • EMR Experience (Medflow, MDoffice).
  • Willing to cross train.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
