We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Second Shift Production Supervisor to join our Deco Packaging USA team in Wood Dale, IL! 2nd shift: Monday - Friday 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM

Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of press operators by performing the following duties.

  • Inspects plates, web and other materials to be used in producing a job to verify conformance to specifications and is responsible for verifying color match of jobs to job specs.
  • Checks production schedule and verifies plates, inks and other required materials are available in advance of an order going to a Press Operator.
  • Directs setup and adjustments of presses with high attention to detail.
  • Consistently maintains equipment and may make minor repairs when necessary.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Holds a strong understanding of company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders for workers and assigns duties, establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Responsible for implementing and following Lean Manufacturing procedures and is a member of one or more Lean manufacturing development and implementation committees.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and/or reduce setup time, equipment downtime and production scrap.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and provides training and guidance.
  • Trains new Press Operators on proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintains production records in an efficient and organized manner .
  • Confers with other members of the management team to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised as needed.
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises personnel in the Press and Finishing departments.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience of at least two years, with a successful track record for leading teams .
  • Five plus years of label and shrink sleeve production experience. Printing, packaging or similar industry experience is required. 
  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and management.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance; loads over 50 pounds require the use of mechanical devices or other personnel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Two years Press Operator experience preferred.
  • Mark Andy and Comco experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
