Position Purpose This position may provide therapeutic services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including their families/caregivers under the direct supervision of licensed Physical, Occupational and Speech and Language Pathology Therapists, Registered Nurses and Charge Nurses. This position provides indirect and direct patient care within all federal and state regulatory guidelines. # # # Nature and Scope This position is a supporting role in the Rehab therapy department. This position is responsible for providing continuity of business operations, support functions, and direct patient care functions under the supervision of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Therapy Leadership. The incumbent will be required to assist the therapy staff in a timely and consistent manner. Depending on location of services, these duties include, but are not limited to: # Clerical responsibilities # Ordering and stocking of therapy supplies # Assisting therapists with patient mobility and activities of daily living as directed by the licensed therapists # Assist with higher level balance activities, as directed by the licensed therapists # Directing patients in therapeutic exercises/activities as directed by the licensed therapist # Transporting of equipment and supplies # Transporting of patients # Set up and assist with diagnostic studies # Perform high level disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopes. In addition, accurately maintains comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control. # Set-up and performance of therapeutic modalities (including Mechanical Traction, Electrical Stimulation, and Paraffin), as directed by the licensed therapist # Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of various therapy equipment # Assist in scheduling and check in/check out procedures for patient appointments/schedules # Taking and recording vital signs as directed by the licensed therapist # The incumbent must possess the ability to communicate with patients and families in a caring and professional manner.
