Founded in early 2022, Project Re:Car spent its formative months establishing a leadership team and the product definition.
Who we are looking for:
Re:Car is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Software/Firmware Engineer to join our growing team. This position will be architecting, designing, and implementing Firmware and Sox Algorithms for the BMS. The Re:Car BMS team is extremely focused on the overall experience and the safety of the system as a whole. The team strives to create robust, efficient firmware/Hardware and your responsibility is to ensure the quality is extremely high. You will have the opportunity to define, create and maintain code base.
What you get to do:
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to develop requirements for new BMS features, diagnostics, algorithms, etc.
  • Develop Software-in-the-Loop infrastructure in an object-oriented fashion, making high degree of re-use of existing objects and objects that are highly reusable.
  • Design rapid test iteration framework for developers to use for quick, at-desk spot checks.
  • Firmware development and debugging, code/performance optimization, create and complete board level test plans to expose weakness or faults in hardware and firmware.
  • Translate Hardware algorithms into software implementation and integrate them into firmware and validation frameworks.
  • Deliver and manage test firmware to support integration and testing of product.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up and qualification of BMS, and lab work as needed to support development/debug activities through the entire product lifecycle.
What you bring to the team:
  • Bachelors or MS in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, with practical software engineering experience or proof of exceptional skills in related fields
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (firmware engineer, embedded design and/or validation)
  • Expertise testing devices and debugging hardware (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM)
  • Desire to participate in improving code robustness and designing testing infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in C and C
  • Preferred: CANalyzer / CANape experience
  • Preferred: Experience in schematic design & capture (Altium Designer)
  • Preferred: Experience with FPGA or HDL (Verilog, VHDL)
  • Capable of delivering top quality C code in a real time embedded environment
  • Strong skills in at least one of the following: Python,Simulink
  • Experience with typical microcontroller peripherals such as ADC, DAC, PWM, Timers etc. and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, UART etc
  • Experience with unit testing, software in the loop (SIL), or hardware in the loop (HIL) methodologies is desirable.
  • Can read hardware schematics and work with the hardware team to deliver production worthy hardware/software co-designed architecture.
