Description
The Die Repair position is responsible for supporting production by effectively and accurately preparing tooling for production on time. This includes maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting tooling while in production and working with others in continuous improvement activities.
Reports to: Tool Room Supervisor / Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.
•Supports and participates in safety programs and activities.
•Adheres to daily prep schedule and associated work orders.
•Maintains clean and organized work areas.
•Properly cleans and protects tooling.
•Able to take repairs from beginning to end without supervision and verify accuracy of repairs to part print.
•Accurately troubleshoots common tooling problems.
•Accurately completes and files all required documentation in a timely manner.
•Accurately and efficiently assembles and disassembles tooling.
•Polish molds consistently to production standards.
•Locates and pulls tooling scheduled for maintenance and repair.
•Completes all tasks involved in the "standard prepare for run" of tooling.
•Accurately replaces cavity components as needed.
•Accurately and efficiently prepares tooling for set-up, including associated components.
•Accurately maintains and replaces water and oil lines.
•Accurately maintains and repairs water hoses.
•Accurately and efficiently maintains all tooling and components, including slides, ejector pins, die cutters, hydraulic cylinders.
•Fabricates Julian Date Screws and Annual Date Wheels.
•Accurately and efficiently reworks cores and cavities, including welding and polishing.
•Performs welding operations to repair and modify tools.
•Completes basic set-ups in Surface Grinders, Press-Out Press, Band Saw, Lathe, Mills
•Fabricates and installs standard cores and punches.
•Fabricates fixtures (machine, inspection, assembly, etc.) per direction.
•Applies trigonometry functions and uses Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for tool making functions.
•Programs and operates 2-axis CNC Mill, CNC Lathe.
•Modifies tooling to reduce scrap and rework.
Qualifications
Education
•High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Experience
•1 to 3 Years in a Tool Room role in a die casting environment
Requirements and Certifications
•Computer literate in Microsoft Office
•Forklift, LOTO, Hoist, and Crane Certified
•Math skills used in common machining tasks
