POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing financial accounting, operations, grants administration, policies, and procedures for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monthly Closing Process: Verify the coding and classification of accounts and reconcile bank accounts every month to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Receivables: Ensure that receivable invoices are accurately coded, verified, and posted. Pay them on time with the appropriate source documentation.
  • Grants Management: Efficiently manage grant and contract timelines. Match expenses accurately with their respective grants and report time promptly. File timesheets for each grant file to ensure timely reimbursements. Train on HUD Exchange.
  • Chart of Accounts: Ensure new accounts are correctly entered using the appropriate code and description. Update the Chart of Accounts for new businesses.
  • Grant/Contract Reporting: Periodically provide financial data, including expenditure reports for funding sources.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • At least three (3) years of experience handling Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • At least three (3) years of accounting experience working at a non-profit organization.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-driven, capable of working autonomously and setting priorities to achieve desired results.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with Yardi systems.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
