Dance Teacher Position Overview

All teachers at The Queen City Academy Charter School advance the mission, goals and educational philosophy of the school by planning and facilitating learning activities and experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth of students, while enabling students to develop competencies, skills and disposition to function successfully in society.

The Dance Teacher should be able to:

• Teaches QCACS curriculum using resources adopted by the Board of Trustees.
• Demonstrates an ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies from beginner to advanced level.
• Develops dance curriculum and prepares lesson plans.
• Engages, encourages, and motivates students to reach their goals.
• Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement.
• Choreograph routines and select music for whole school performances.
• Provide a fun and creative environment.
• Keep up to date in your discipline and implement any changes to the dance routines and curriculum as needed.
• Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual, physical, and special abilities.
• e level team on content and instructional strategies that support your students and help all students succeed.

• Learn and implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.

• Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
• Partner with students families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs.
• Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold at minimum a Bachelors degree and certification as appropriate. The expectation is that all candidates hold at least a Certificate of Eligibility and QCACS leadership can provide guidance on obtaining full certification in the State of New Jersey. Candidates should be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the requiredPRAXIS tests. Applicants must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ability to communicate with parents and students across lines of difference, have mastery of subject matter content, be a team player, hold high expectations of students and possess basic understanding of child development.
