Job Description
The primary role of the Student Marketing & Communications Intern is to assist PMO's Marketing & Communications Manager in all aspects of marketing & communications including daily social media updates, writing copy, photography, and strategic planning. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a professional marketing, social media, and external communications environment. The Student Marketing & Communications Intern should work approximately 15 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The Student Marketing & Communications Intern must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, responsive, and driven.
Prerequisite(s)
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Experience in social media tools such as Canva, AirTable and Loomly preferred but not required.
$11.25/hr starting wage
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or Purdue Global (participation in PMO preferred but not required)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
  • Communicate professionally with PMO staff and respond efficiently
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and with a team
  • Be organized and able to multi-task within deadlines
  • Customer service oriented
Position Responsibilities
  • Create daily social media content, which includes writing copy, and taking photos as needed
  • Assist the Marketing & Communications Manager in organizing and implementing marketing campaign strategies
  • Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to comments, inquiries, and messages on social media
  • Attend daily rehearsals during the week and some evening/weekend commitments as directed by supervisor
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
  • Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
  • Other duties as assigned
