The Staff Site Safety & Health Specialist collaborates with the site project management team to implement project-specific Safety & Health programs at field locations.
Responsibilities include crafting and enforcing safety policies to ensure a secure and healthy work environment in heavy construction settings.
Duties also involve :
- Monitoring Safety & Health activities on field construction projects to ensure operations align with safety plans.
- Executing Safety & Health Program deliverables as per Corporate Safety & Health department guidelines, addressing site-specific compliance issues promptly.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Local, State, and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Investigating actions related to work stoppage in situations posing immediate danger to life and health.
- Reporting and presenting resolved safety and health concerns to project management and Corporate Safety & Health teams.
- Communicating with client Safety & Health departments regarding site safety issues and coordinating preventive measures.
- Conducting, monitoring, and documenting project safety & health walk-through assessments with subcontractor safety personnel.
- Managing and documenting safety activities requiring immediate correction and verifying timely resolutions.
- Conducting and documenting training on environmental, safety & health topics.
- Reviewing and completing incident reports, recommending countermeasures as necessary.
- Reporting project Safety & Health program progress, challenges, and objectives to Corporate Safety & Health.
- Ensuring completion of daily project Safety & Health reporting requirements and maintaining audit-ready records.
- Verifying subcontractors' maintenance of required safety records and submission to Corporate Safety & Health.
- Traveling to various project site locations as needed.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's, Associate's, or High School Diploma / GED in relevant fields, along with experience in construction safety or management.
Proficiency in relevant software, excellent communication skills, and willingness to work varied schedules and travel are essential.
Additionally, OSHA safety training courses and a valid driver's license are required.
