*Clinician Scientist (Anesthesiology)*Minneapolis, MNUniversity of Minnesota*Basic Pain Scientist AND Clinician/Scientist Positions at the University of Minnesota*The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Pain Consortium, is seeking TWO accomplished scientists specializing in the field of pain to join a large, multidisciplinary community focused on pain and analgesia research.

  • Both individuals must have a strong record of research productivity and show evidence of an established independent research program; candidates with movable external funding will be preferred.
  • One position will be filled by a PhD (or equivalent) basic scientist. The other will be filled by a clinical anesthesiologist (MD, MD/PhD or DO) eligible for medical licensure in the state of Minnesota.
  • Primary appointments for both positions will be in the Department of Anesthesiology with joint appointments as appropriate in one of the basic or clinical science departments within the Consortium (e.g. Dentistry, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, etc). Location: Minneapolis, MN.
  • Academic rank and appointment type will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments. Substantial start-up funds and laboratory space are available.
  • Must have a strong record of research productivity and show evidence of an established independent and funded (e.g. NIH) research program; individuals with current movable funding are preferred.
  • About the Department:*
The Department of Anesthesiology consists of over 60 faculty members working in all areas of clinical anesthesia, critical care, regional anesthesia, pain medicine and basic pain research.The University of Minnesota is known internationally for pain research and the development of novel analgesic medications.Research is directed toward a broad-spectrum of questions related to pain transmission, neuroplasticity, hyperalgesia, endogenous pain inhibitory systems, and development of analgesic medications.. The pain community is also well connected with the University's Center for Addiction Research. This provides a highly enriched environment and fosters strong collaborations and interdisciplinary training opportunities.
